Overall, in my opinion, this boomboxes are unique, collectible, and hard to find items. No static noise when operating any controls. Has power with no case vibrations.
This unit was not serviced. Built in cast iron speaker housings are isolating sound very well. F series Sony model's were are the ultra premium line of boomboxes. Aluminum trim on the front is solid and attached, without any scratches or dents.
With 30hz-14,000hz frequency response on normal tape - it had no boombox rivals at the time, and could be compared to best stand-along decks. It takes me anywhere from 40min to over an 1 hour pack each boombox, as I have measure and machine cut cardboard corners, then wrap it, surround with air bags or something similar, make a custom box that fits perfectly, so the boombox does not move inside. No so nice:weight.

Sony plastic badge on the front is like new. This is due to the cast iron speaker enclosures that completely dump any possible vibration would otherwise be created by high output speakers. Motor can be seen spinning.
It does have a couple of discoloration spots on what appears to be some sort lacquer that was applied the trim and now had deteriorated. This Sony features 4 drivers for a full range of high power output. It may not look pretty, but does the job of preserving as much possible.
Overall, this is a powerful, quality built boombox, that can be used with your modern phone, streaming music and creating very enjoyable experience. A very interestingly looking unit, that also sounds great. Will not disengage.
