Pros:1. Authentic Tube Sound: The H-650T7 delivers the warm, rich sound that comes with traditional tubes, creating a unique listening experience unparalleled by transistor radios.
2. Modern Convenience: Equipped with both AM and FM capabilities, you can tune into various radio stations with ease.
3. Aesthetic Appeal: Its vintage design is both stylish and timeless, adding to the charm of any room.
4. Adjustable Bass and Treble Controls: These features enable listeners to customize the sound output according to their preferences.
5. Versatile Input: Innate to the design, the Westinghouse H-650T7 is compatible with earphones, making it a multi-functional device.
Cons:1. Size and Weight: Given its robust build and vintage design, the radio is larger and heavier than contemporary radios, making it less portable.
2. Delicate Tubes: Tube-driven radios require more careful handling and maintenance than their transistor counterparts, as the glass tubes can be prone to damage.
3. Higher Energy Consumption: Drawing more power than modern radios, the Westinghouse H-650T7 may lead to increased electricity bills.
4. Lack of Bluetooth Connectivity: This vintage device does not support wireless playback options.
Conclusion:In summary, the Westinghouse H-650T7 AM FM Tube Radio provides a unique listening experience with its authentic tube sound and modern convenience. The device offers a deep, rich sound quality, AM and FM tuning, and customizable bass and treble controls. However, it comes with drawbacks such as a large size, requiring more care and maintenance, higher energy consumption, and lack of Bluetooth connectivity.
If you value authentic, deep sound and the charm of vintage design, the Westinghouse H-650T7 AM FM Tube Radio is an excellent investment. However, if you prioritize portability, energy efficiency, and wireless connectivity, you may opt for a modern radio or a similarly-sized transistor radio with these features.
Recommendation:Consider your personal preferences and requirements carefully before making a decision. If you appreciate the vintage aesthetic and the warm, rich sound of a tube radio while embracing some of the challenges it presents, the Westinghouse H-650T7 is a fantastic addition to your home. But, if your priority is portability and functionality, consider other options on the market.
It has the proverbial hum that an older tube radio makes after years in storage. The vinyl cord became hard and brittle broke off an inch away from where it plugs in. However, it is not as bad some I have come across. This Radio was tested a few months ago and appears to work.
Would be great as a fixer upper or to use for parts. The cabinet is in pretty rough shape but not totally broken. There is no way to repair the cord. I will include it so its easier to match up.
The knob for tuning moves smoothly, and both bands were picking up stations with the speaker working surprisingly well. It will have to be replaced. Its probably not bad for 70 year old plastic, though. It should be an easy replacement since it is a common type of connector.
