The single-band Garrett's appear to have been discontinued once the late versions appeared, making them comparative rarities today. All other model's were distinguished using a trailing letter A thru G. The chassis was basically the, same, the principal difference being replacement of two-point tone control with a continuously variable one. The radio provides no Automatic-Volume-Control and has a two-point tone control.

There is a newer power cord obviously replaced at some point. Note the in model number indicates this included a second police band the 4th knob to far right is selector, although it not marked as such on chassis or cabinet. But still the radio exterior is clean, looks great, and would make a great addition to your collection. The band switch on the far right does not easily with knob attached.

RCA's neat and tidy plans for the Garrett's however met with upheaval just a month or two in. Approximate dimensions: 11.25 X 8 14 inches. This is a rare, vintage 1933-1934 RCA Victor R-28-P Cathedral Carryout model 110 tube radio with AM and Police bands. The evolution of the R28 from its early to late versions makes an interesting story.

It is being sold for parts/repair as while it powers on tubes light up, there was no reception or sound heard in testing. This appears to have all happened so quickly that the ad copy did not get use updated photos. If the knob is removed switch can be moved with a pair of pliers. This is an original model, not a reproduction.

What is particularly striking that the tidy, symmetrical appearance of knob arrangement for single band, sets was unbalanced by addition a fourth at extreme right cabinet facade - see my set to right!, So what could have caused this abrupt change in plans RCA-Victor. As mentioned the radio is being sold for parts/repair. I presume the switch could be lubricated along with other repairs needed if desired to make it work.

This would imply that the cathedral was principal or founding member of series, despite it appearing to have not been first be announced. The cabinet has some scratches, peeling and missing veneer, various mars marks consistent with age use. See photos for exact condition.
