It is very clean and seems to be in good working condition. When going across the dial on other bands, tuning meter would show a signal few times but there was no sound. These controls are in the bottom section of receiver so I did not try to take the receiver apart check them. I purchased this shortwave receiver in the problems may be due to sticking because of long storage time.
The bf knob that always had turned off will turn to only second of six marks and I do not know enough know if it is supposed go further or what its function is supposed be. The indicator is calibrated 5 but it will move through only 4 and 3 on left. Someone with more experience may be able to determine how to fix these problems. The receiver has a built-in speaker and I do not have earphones for jack anther front.
There are two controls of concern that may or not be important. My sons and used a horizontal wire antenna about 75 ft long got fairly good reception on all bands. Idol not know if the dial is working or indicator just stuck. I could test only the armband and it worked well, but not receive anything on other bands because did have an antenna.
The receiver has four bands including am band. It has been in storage for about 30 years. The other concern is band spread control.
The Heathkit shortwave receiver model SW-717 is a newer Heathkit and it solid state, not tubes.
