I don't know when it was purchased but definitely before UPC codes, since doesn't have one on the box.
I removed it from the box today to take pictures. You can see this in the last two pictures. It fell out on me once when I was testing.
It has that nifty handle strap and a jack hole on one side, the other side off tuning wheels. Not too big of an issue but worth a mention to let you know what expect. It has no bearing on the performance, but I noticed battery cover does not fit snugly in place and may fall out if inserted a certain way.
What you see in the photos is will receive. The radio is a nice piece and has no rust or other damage than what I mentioned. Upon inspection, I saw that although new, it has a small broken piece of the plastic casing on left corner inside battery compartment to storage area. This came to me when I was cleaning out my father-in-laws house after his passing many years ago.
Box shows only normal wear and tear for its age. Frequency range is shown in one of my pictures. Not torn or distressed. This is a listing for one vintage Silvano solid state am fm two band 9 transistor radio.
It has been tested and works beautifully. He apparently forgot had it and i've just in storage for over 20 years.
